Announcing our new Head of Coaching & Youth Development.
The club is proud to confirm the appointment of Brían O’Rourke as Head of Coaching & Youth Development.
Brían joins the club with a wealth of experience coaching cricket in Leinster and beyond. He has been a permanent fixture in the regional sporting landscape and has undoubtedly contributed to and shaped the development of many inter-provincial and International players including our own John McNally, Reuben Wilson, Ethan Marshall, David Delany, & Fionn Hand, amongst others. He has led the Leinster Boys U13-U19 inter-provincial teams for many years, achieving much success against his NCU & NWCU counterparts.
“It gives me great pleasure to welcome Brían to Clontarf CC. I know firsthand what a fantastic coach and person he is and I am certain he will bring new levels of professionalism and expertise to coaching in our club.“ Connor D’Arcy, President CCC
Brían has broadened his coaching skillset with roles at schools and provincial boards in both England and South Africa, while his work to create and lead Cricket Leinster’s groundbreaking TY scheme – giving Youth players experience playing in England and South Africa – reflects his desire to help underage players develop not only as cricketers but as people.
“Clontarf CC has a rich 150-year history of producing quality cricketers who contribute to our community. I am honoured to help shape, alongside our passionate volunteer coaches, the club’s plans to ensure every junior – regardless of background, gender, or ability – can experience the positive impact of being part of the Clontarf CC family.” Brían O’Rourke
Brían will be responsible for the club’s coaching philosophy and approach across our Men’s, Women’s and Youth sections. The majority of his time will be spent overseeing Youth coaching sessions for all Girls & Boys teams, while managing the Player Pathway, Schools programmes, Camps and FNC. He will work closely with our Senior team coaches to ensure the highest standard of coaching exists throughout the club, and will importantly nurture a closer alignment between Youth and Senior teams.
“I’m delighted to welcome Brían to Clontarf CC. Having worked with him previously, we know how impactful his coaching philosophy is. Our Strategic Review highlighted the need to elevate our Youth structures, and bringing Brían in is the first major step toward that goal. I look forward to shaping the next generation of Clontarf cricketers together.” Ropu Islam, Chair of Youth CCC
Brían will officially join the club in March 2027 for pre-season, and in the meantime will work with our Youth teams during our winter training programme when time permits.
