Monthly Review – June 2026

Strong League form and Cup battles the highlights of our June summer campaigns.

Our M1s experienced a highly competitive month across multiple fronts, showing excellent resilience as their league campaign gained some momentum. The month opened with a tough road trip in the Leinster Senior Cup quarter-final, where a solid team batting performance fell short as North County chased down the target to win by eight wickets. Returning to Premier League action, the team suffered a 35-run home defeat against a disciplined Merrion side. They bounced back immediately in the Alan Murray Cup, putting together a clinical display to defeat North Kildare by nine wickets, anchored by an unbeaten half-century and sharp opening bowling. A close battle followed away to Malahide, where despite a spirited defensive effort in the field, the hosts edged out a narrow three-wicket victory. The team hit top gear in their next outing at Castle Avenue, securing a commanding 37-run league victory over Rush courtesy of an excellent century and a four-wicket haul. They carried this winning form to Cork County, sealing a hard-fought four-wicket win where sharp wicketkeeping kept the pressure high. The intensive block of fixtures concluded in the Alan Murray Cup, where Malahide narrowly claimed a two-wicket win in a match that went down to the final over.

The W1s enjoyed an absolutely flawless run of form, dominant across every single appearance to keep themselves firmly at the business end of the Premier League table. Their run began in style at home, where they secured a comprehensive 81-run victory over The Hills behind a spectacular opening partnership. They followed this up with a clinical performance on the road at Pembroke, chasing down the target comfortably to record a seven-wicket win while controlling the middle overs with the ball. The perfect run was rounded off away to Phoenix, where the bowling attack produced a spectacular display to dismiss the hosts cheaply and secure a dominant 64-run victory, highlighted by a brilliant five-wicket haul.

Our M2s put in two highly competitive weekend performances in the Second XI Premier League, demonstrating excellent quality and fighting spirit in both fixtures. Early in the schedule, the side played out a dramatic thriller at Castle Avenue against Balbriggan, ultimately holding their nerve under intense pressure to secure a narrow four-run victory thanks to crucial death bowling. Later, away to Civil Service, another closely contested battle saw the hosts edge past our total to claim a tight three-wicket win despite a gritty half-century from the batting lineup.

The W2s put together an exceptional run of undefeated form, showing great squad depth to advance in the cup and maintain their league standings. After their opening fixture away to North Kildare was unfortunately abandoned due to weather, the team returned to action with a brilliant four-wicket home victory against Merrion, steered home by a composed unbeaten knock. They carried that confidence into the Junior Cup quarter-final, delivering an emphatic performance away to Malahide to claim a 49-run win, sparked by a quick-fire boundary-filled innings. The month wrapped up at home in Division 2, where a fantastic all-round team display sealed a decisive 42-run victory over Railway Union to keep their unbeaten streak intact.

Our M3s encountered a challenging period on the pitch, showing great character across several close encounters but ultimately falling just short of the results their efforts deserved. They started their Division 6 schedule with a hard-fought away trip to North Kildare, missing out narrowly as the hosts clinched a four-wicket victory. They returned home to face Civil Service, putting up a competitive first-innings total before the visitors chased it down to win by five wickets despite a fine spell of spin bowling. A shift to knock-out cricket followed in the Middle Cup, where they put in a determined performance away to Castleknock but ultimately fell 26 runs short of the target. The schedule concluded with a home league fixture against Malahide, where a strong batting display was answered by a powerful reply from the visitors, who took the win by eight wickets.

The W3s had a relatively quiet schedule with just a single fixture on the calendar, using the opportunity to give vital game time to developing players. Travelling away to Phoenix in Division 3, the team put together a spirited effort with both bat and ball but were ultimately defeated by eight wickets against a strong opposing side, though the bowling unit stood out with an excellent economical spell.

Our M4s also faced a streamlined schedule, maximizing their single outing to test themselves against high-quality opposition. In their league fixture, the side hosted Swords at home in Division 11, playing some excellent cricket but ultimately coming up second best against a powerful batting lineup that secured a 72-run victory, with a resilient performance from the middle order keeping the fight alive.

Our M5s enjoyed a spectacular, unbeaten run in Division 17C, combining youth and experience to navigate some highly pressured situations perfectly. Their schedule began with an away trip to Pembroke that was unfortunately abandoned due to the elements. When they got out on the field next, they showed brilliant composure in a tense home fixture against Stillorgan, securing a hard-fought three-wicket victory driven by an excellent bowling display. They duplicated that exact formula at home against Rush, holding their nerve in another tight finish to cross the line for a fantastic four-wicket win, with the winning runs hit in style to round off an exceptional run for the squad.
