Weekend’s Cricket

Another busy weekend of cricket on the way. Let’s hope the weather is kind to us.

First things first, big congratulations to both the Women’s 2nd team and the Men’s 2nd team for reaching their 20-20 cup finals. We’ll have the details of when and where these finals take place a little later.

So now on to this weekend.

First up on Saturday is the AMC 20 Over bash. We host both Railway Union and Phoenix Cricket from 10.30/10.45 in the morning.

The order of play is as below

10.45 – Clontarf v Railway Union

14.00 – Clontarf v Phoenix Cricket

17.00 – Phoenix Cricket V Railway Union

We have a little taster video on our Facebook page to get the blood flowing. You can find the page by searching for Clontarf Cricket Club on Facebook and liking us.

On the day there (hopefully) will be a BBQ, tea and coffee and of course a bar! If you’re a Lions fan, the club house will be open early to show the match so you have no excuse to miss any cricket.

Afternoon Tea will be available for all spectators in the Tea Room on Saturday €5 per head….all profits to help the continuous improvements to our tea room! Homemade cakes and scones yummy.

Away from the Bull Ring on Saturday the 3rds travel to Castleknock for their cup Quarter final. This is a 1pm start, and the 6ths travel to Park Avenue to take on Railway Union also at 1pm.

Sunday is a bit quieter, the 5ths are at home to Terenure 3rds while the 2nds go to YMCA for what can only be described as a HUGE league game, again both start at 1pm.

The Women are in action on Tuesday and Wednesday with the 1sts going to Leinster on Tuesday and the 2nds making their way to Phoenix, both 6.30 starts. They have both had great starts to their seasons, so if you’re over in their direction please pop in and lend your support.

Finally, the draws for the Leinster Senior 1 & 2 Cup Semi-finals has been made, we have been drawn away in both.

On Sunday July 16th the 1sts go to Merrion (currently top of Division 2).

The 2nds will travel to Knockharley on a date to be confirmed. We’ll keep you updated.

Best of luck to all competing over the weekend.

Hope to see you at some of the games

Upcoming Fixtures

We’re in the height of it now and a lot of cricket to be played and watched this week.

We kick off on Thursday with the Women’s Firsts taking on Phoenix at home at 6.30pm

Saturday is a big day with round one of the 20-20 bash in Terenure.

We are first up at 10.45 with The Hills providing the opposition, then at about 5.15 we take on the hosts Terenure. Both games promise to be high scoring affairs.

Away from the Firsts, the Thirds host Leinster 3rd in the Bull Ring in what is always a close game in Division 5 and the Fifths make their way to the Vineyard to take on The Hills Fourths and enjoy some of the best tea’s in the province. Both 1pm starts

Sunday provides with more big games and more good cricket

The Seconds go to Merrion in the Senior 2 cup quarter final. They’ve had a mixed start to the league but their cup form has been good with a 10 wicket win in round one. Merrion are a top side and this will be worth watching. 1pm start

The Fourths make their way to Swords hoping to continue their league form against a side aiming to do the same!!

In the Bull Ring the 6th team start their cup campaign. They have made the last 2 finals and round 1 see’s our good friends Malahide pay a visit.

On Monday we have more Cup cricket.  The Seconds host Laois in the Semi Final for the 20-20. We won this last year are on Monday will be trying to make it to finals day for the second year in a row. 6 pm start

Lastly on Tuesday we have a Division one re-fix against Pembroke at 6pm. In the league game we had Pembroke about 180 for 8, since then Pembroke have two top players back in their ranks with Andy Balbirine and L Tucker returning plus have started to find their form of last year with Lawson and Cutler both scoring heavily in recent games. This will provide a big challenge and will be a cracker for a game

Hope to see you and some of the games this week
